Best Of Dwell On Design 2013: Home Lighting & Light Fixtures

There was no shortage of great lighting available at the recent Dwell On Design 2013 show in Los Angeles from June 22-24. Most of the lighting there reflected the current steam punk and modern lighting trends. Here are some of our favorites.

Cube by whyrHymer

Cube by whyrHymer

Some of our favorite designs were from Brandon Morrison of whyrHymer in Los Angeles. Cube, shown above, is typical of his "warm modern" designs. Made by hand "each two inch piece is hand sanded and glued in place over a solid walnut block underneath ensuring attention to detail and a solid and stylish table lamp". You can see more of his unique designs at www.whyrhymer.com.

Drops by Light In Art

Another of our favorites was Drops, by Light in Art. The Drops pendants feature custom stained glass by international artist Shimon Peleg. Available in a variety of custom colors and size, from subtle to dazzling, these stunning pendants are sure to draw attention in any space. See more from Light In Art at www.lightinart.com.

Shining by Radius Design

Shining by Radius Design

Shining, by Radius Design of  Germany, one of the winners of the 2007 »nachlux«, the european innovation competition for lighting, throws fanciful light patterns on wall and ceilings. Its varying motifs, almost like changing the wall paper, are controlled by changing the glass shade, and lend a very personal touch to any room, engendering a warm and inviting atmosphere. Visit their website at www.radius-design.com to see more of their lighting and other designs.

Chandelier 108 by Seth Parks Glass

Chandelier 108 by Seth Parks Glass

Muto Pendant by Cerno Lighting

The Muto Pendant by Cerno Lighting reflects their modern take on mission style lighting. Constructed from walnut with an LED lighting source, the wooden panels on the Muto both block and reflect the light allowing for the interplay of light and shawdow.  Established in 2009, Cerno is based in Southern California.
